Starting the Conversation
Conversations are openings that take many forms. I work with a variety of mediums to provoke curiosity and invite communion.
I generate theatrical work with my company, Exploding Knot as a collaborative way to explore paradigms of power. Love Notes For Liberation fosters self compassion through poetry. My essays, articles and creative non-fiction playfully place rigorous research, personal narrative, and a variety of different modalities in conversation with one another.
Guiding the conversation
Conversations take care. In all of my practices, I create thoughtful spaces that invite exploration.
I facilitate breathwork session to help people release, retune, and reset and learning spaces to help people show up actively as allies across lines of difference. As a consultant, I collaborate with artists to think through narrative structure, language choices, and the historical context surrounding their work. As a speaker, I wield my background as a theater maker to creatively engage with audiences to ensure we are in conversation together.
Framing the conversation
Theater and film offer a precious opportunity to be with what is, and reframe a conversation towards what is possible.
In Animal Wisdom the audience is invited into a requiem mass and community ritual. Our Heroine takes audiences on an epic journey towards healing and liberation.
The pieces I direct use unexpected fusions of form and intimate storytelling to coax out deep emotional resonance with audiences. They invite us into conversation with our own bodies and their meaning in the world around us.
